International coalition to promote social inclusion in disconnected neighborhoods through sport via SIDFOOT project

Save the Dream, an initiative of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), has gathered in a meeting with a coalition of partners from six European countries to kick-off the SIDFOOT project meeting which is set to promote physical activity and social inclusion in disconnected neighbourhoods through sport.

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, SIDFOOT focuses on creating a positive influence on the lives of children and young people living in disadvantaged communities and involves activities that will steer young people towards education and adaption to healthier lifestyles.

The first meeting included an introductory presentation by each partner followed by a SIDFOOT project overview. The participating organisations agreed on the methodology for collecting and sharing best practices on sport as a tool for social inclusion.

Partners of the project are:

  • Fundación Real Betis Balompie, leader of the initiative
  • Universitat de les Illes Balears
  • Liverpool City Council
  • Aalborg BK
  • Wiener SC
  • ICSS Insight
  • Agenția Metropolitană pentru Dezvoltare Durabilă Brașov
