The safety and security management of sporting events irrespective of their size and scope, involve many complex interdependencies, stakeholders, and resources all under the scrutiny of the media and the general public. A safe and secure sporting event does not happen by chance. It can only be achieved through a shared policy of cooperation and integrated planning amongst all the relevant stakeholders. Safety and security planning is a pivotal component to any successful sporting event. It affects in some manner, everyone participating in, or attending the sporting event.

The aim of the course ‘Sport Safety and Security Planning’ is to provide you with information, best practices, and a roadmap for how to plan the safety and security of a sporting event. You will learn about planning frameworks, documents, tools and many more concepts to further develop your knowledge and understanding in developing your plans to ensure a safe and secure sporting event.

The course ‘Sport Safety and Security Planning’ is delivered in an online virtual classroom environment using asynchronous learning strategies and technologies through the ICSS’s Learning Management System (LMS). You can complete the course on your own at your preferred pace and time of day which fits your schedule.

To successfully complete the course ‘Sport Safety and Security Planning’, you must pass a Course Knowledge Evaluation, the purpose of which is to test your knowledge and understanding of the relevant course subject matter. This evaluation will consist of a series of multiple-choice questions. You must obtain a minimum passing grade of 75%.

This course has a standalone fee of $ 500.00 US Dollars.

The course ‘Sport Safety and Security Planning’ is certified by UNITAR and delivered by its CIFAL Global Network to meet an exceptionally high training and learning standard and guarantee you will increase your knowledge, develop skills, and influence your behaviour. All certificates issued are recognised internationally by UNITAR and the ICSS.

Upon successful completion of all the course requirements, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion entitled ‘Award’ in ‘Sport Safety and Security Planning’.

You will access all course materials via a Learning Management System (LMS), which will require a computer or a mobile device with audio and video capabilities, a headset with microphone to connect to audio through the computer or mobile device, as well as a highspeed broadband Internet connection. No special software is required.
