A sporting event is likely to attract large numbers of spectators and as such to ensure that the event is safe and secure for all, requires protective safety and security measures. The key to preventing safety and security incidents at a sporting event, is to enhance the existing physical, technical and operational overlay and implementing all additional mitigation measures necessary based upon the findings of vulnerability assessments. This course will concentrate on the physical safety and security mitigation measures to help deter, detect, delay, deny and respond to identified threats and risks to a sporting event.

The aim of the course ‘Operational Safety and Security Mitigation Measures’ as its name implies, is to help you face these increasing challenges and provide you with best international practices of operational safety and security mitigation measures to assist your objective to deter, detect, delay, deny and respond to identified threats and risks to your sporting event. You will learn how to integrate the operational safety and security mitigation measures into your safety and security operational overlay.

The course ‘Operational Safety and Security Mitigation Measures’ is delivered in an online virtual classroom environment using asynchronous learning strategies and technologies through the ICSS’s Learning Management System (LMS). To successfully complete the course ‘Operational Safety and Security Mitigation Measures’, you must pass a Course Knowledge Evaluation, the purpose of which is to test your knowledge and understanding of the relevant course subject matter. This evaluation will consist of a series of multiple-choice questions. You must obtain a minimum passing grade of 75%.

The course ‘Operational Safety and Security Mitigation Measures’ is certified by UNITAR and delivered by its CIFAL Global Network to meet an exceptionally high training and learning standard and guarantee you will increase your knowledge, develop skills, and influence your behaviour. All certificates issued are recognised internationally by UNITAR and the ICSS.

Upon successful completion of all the course requirements, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion entitled ‘Award’ in ‘Operational Safety and Security Mitigation Measures’.
