Guiding Principles for Protecting the Integrity of Sports Competitors
Sorbonne – ICSS Research Programme
In 2014, the University Paris 1 – Panthéon-Sorbonne and ICSS grabbed global headlines after unveiling the results of pioneering two-year research programme involving over 70 international experts that explored the links between sport betting and sports result manipulation.
A set of guiding principles were also developed to provide sport, government and betting with practical recommendations to combat corruption in sport. These were recognised and endorsed by Commonwealth Sport Ministers and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and contributed to the Council of Europe’s (CoE) Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions.
