Viewed worldwide through networks including CNBC, Bloomberg TV, Fox Business News and many others, the invitation to ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite also provided Save the Dream with an ideal platform to raise awareness and support for future global projects that will help to bring sport to the lives of young refugees.

“On behalf of Save the Dream, it is an honour to be invited to the NASDAQ Stock Exchange to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace – which was established by the UN General Assembly under Resolution 296.

“Sport plays a pivotal role in society and encourages many important values including respect, self-esteem, equality and peace. Save the Dream believes strongly in these promoting these values through sport, which are aligned with what International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and the Olympic Truce stands for.

“In what is an important year for sport, on behalf of Save the Dream, I urge countries and people around the world to observe the Olympic Truce and prolong it to encourage peace and harmony around the world.”

Speaking of the appearance at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, Mohammed Hanzab, President of the ICSS and Founder of Save the Dream said:

“Ringing the closing bell at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange further cements Save the Dream’s profile as a global initiative and echoes our call alongside many other international organisations in Times Square last year to increase opportunities and access for young people to play sport.

“I am delighted to see many of partners involved last year joined Save the Dream again at the NASDAQ MarketSite. With this in mind, the agreement the International Olympic Truce Centre has signed with Save the Dream which recognises sport’s educational and cultural role will also empower many young people around the world to play sport, as well as promoting peace through the Olympic Truce and build new bridges between individuals and communities.”

While the closing bell was ringing, the famous NASDAQ billboard in the heart of Times Square also promoted the “Save the Dream Song”, which was composed and performed for the first time by renowned musician Yossou N’Dour during the Times Square event in November. Proceeds from the song are directed towards Save the Dream’s activities to facilitate access to sport to children in the “outskirts” of the world.
